So tired I'm delirious

I am TIRED.... no, that doesn't describe it. I am so tired I am delirious.

Between the two kids being up last night, I think I slept a total of about 90 minutes. I am a walking zombie.Tell me two things:

1. If you rolled over and got your arm stuck underneath you EVERY TIME, wouldn't you, at some point (say after the 15th TIME!!!!), decide not to roll over again until,..... maybe.... the MORNING!

2. Why is 4:30 am a good time to wake up and want to play with playdoh?

Sebastian sat...

.... by himself for the first time yesterday. i snapped a picture right away. later when i looked at the picture on the computer it looked vaguely familiar. I found the picture I took of Mackenzie the first time she sat. It amazes me how they have almost the exact same expression on their faces.

New monitor!

I was working at a colleague's desk for a few minutes this morning and came back to my office to find I have a brand new, sleek, black, 17", flat screen monitor, that just fits so perfectly on my docking station. God, it's sexy!!!!

Thanks Bobby!

I'm getting old....

... and I don't say that because I just had another birthday. I say that because I just can't drink alcohol the way I used to. We went out on Saturday night (btw - thanks to everyone who came out - it was so much fun!). I was tipsy after wine #2 and almost under the table before finishing #3. Not only that but it took me ALL DAY yesterday to recover. I swear, CJ and I were a mess yesterday - SO TIRED. And I ate a ton of crap. I should've made a batch of cookie dough and eaten that. ha ha ha (If you're going to indulge, may as well go all the way). Have you ever noticed how you crave junk food when you are hung over... well i do and today i feel bad. ONLY healthy food for me today.

So... here are a few things I've been thinking about.

1. I CAN NOT find jeans that are the right length. I don't recall this being a problem before .... so i'll blame it on the styles these days. Why is it that jeans are so long? They always seem to drag around the ankles. I attribute this to the fact that kids these days like to look like slobs... if I see another teenage boy with his jeans hanging under his butt and his boxes in full view, I am going to walk up to him and yank his pants up. Anyhow, back on track.... all women's jeans seem to be flared at the bottom too... so too-long flared jeans is what I'm wearing at work today. Nice. I'm middle age now, so maybe I should give up wearing jeans and start wearing the elastic waist polyester pants from tarjay. I bet they wouldn't be too long.

2. I think it's a conspiracy. Kenzie and Sebastian got together and decided to make CJ and I go mad by using the lack-of-sleep-torture-method. Okay kids... I am on to you. You have been warned.

3. My mum has a bad cough. I am worried about her. Ever since she had cancer last year I am concerned about her health. She does too much and needs to slow down. She said she'll go to the doctor if it's not better by tomorrow. I hope she feels better soon.

4. Kenzie is looking especially cute to me these days. I want to eat her up.

5. So, don't tell CJ this, but I've been having "pregnancy envy". Wait that's not it exactly... I don't want to be pregnant. (I HATE BEING PREGNANT). I have been thinking how fun it would be to have 3 kids. So, fortunately or unfortunately, that is not an option for us anymore.... I think that is probably a good thing. I wouldn't want to do anything foolish. Maybe it's the lack of sleep that is making me think this way. (ha ha)

6. Sebastian waited up for us on saturday night. He did, seriously. He is always asleep by 8:30. But the babysitter called at 9:45 and told us that he was still up and not going to sleep. We got home around 10:00 and he was still awake. I took him in my arms and he put his hand to my cheek. In 30 seconds he was fast asleep. It was so sweet.... But i feel bad for the babysitter. She certainly earned her 10$/hr.

7. I am so very tired. Have I mentioned that already?

CJ "the Dad"

CJ and Kenzie had a blast today going down the slide. Now before anyone calls CPS on us, please note that Kenzie was holding on tight and her center of gravity was squarely in the middle of his back. (besides, what's a broken bone or two amongst family)

crazy

Here are some more pictures from today. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast just hanging around outside and goofing off.

I went to visit a friend today. She is a "stamper" and she helped me make some invitations (THANKS Kelly!) for our friends' upcoming baby shower. I have to admit that I am very proud of how they turned out.

great quote

I just read this....

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO what a ride!'"

I don't know who said this first but I love it. Words to live by :)

random thoughts

First of all I'd like to say I am completely in love with my husband and I love my kids more than life itself. :) I would like to give a call out to CJ for his ability to make the best homemade lemonade I have ever tasted. and I mean the real stuff... with lemon juice, sugar and ice. I can't describe how yummy it is with it's mix of real lemon sourness with real sugar sweetnest. It's the best, honey. You rawk!

I stole this picture (below) from Steve's (http://www.steve-lacey.com/) Flickr. Hope you don't mind. (btw Steve, did you know that I read your blog every day? the computer-geek programing stuff is like a foreign language, but I love reading all your other posts)

dadandseb

Okay... so onto more random thoughts....

Sebastian kills me. he is the most dramatic child (well person for that matter) that i have ever met. When he is slightly perturbed about anything... anything at all, he will scream bloody murder. I mean, you have to be there to know what i am talking about. His heart-wrenching shrill screams would make you think that he is being brutally tortured, when in reality it could be something as small as, me bending down to pick up his binky that he threw on the floor... so for a half-second he didn't see my face. Most of the time this drives me insane.... but I have to admit that a very small part of me feels some pride in my son. I think it's because I admire his gumption ha ha ha.

Kenzie.... you are the sweetest little girl (as proven in the picture below).
P6180003

But, Kenzie dear, we need to have a talk. This getting up, after we've read stories and put you to bed, to have a poop, is getting tiring. I KNOW you don't have to go. I KNOW that this is a game you are playing. Your Dad and I see right through your little scheme. So... from now on... pooping takes place BEFORE you go to bed... okay?

One more thing Kenzie Boo. When you tell me that you love me "from limpinini to limpinini" (instead of infinity to infinity) it melts my heart. It's a good thing you don't realize that after saying that to me you could ask for absolutely anything and I would get it for you :)

So, I have taken the day off tomorrow. YAY long birthday weekend for me! Tomorrow, Kenzie and I are heading over to Kelly's house to make some shower invitations for the Lacey's. Well Kenzie will probably play with Max while Kelly and I make the invitations. I am excited about that. In the afternoon we are going to meet Karen and the kids at some petting zoo. I hope the weather is nice.

I am also really psyched about going out on Saturday night. It will be fun to go out for drinks with friends, and stay up past 9:00 pm - like real adults. fun fun fun.

okay well that is the extent of my random thoughts for now. until later.....

K out.

Thanks to the Lacey's....

Seb has a new swing. This is just like the swing they have, which Seb enjoyed so much on Sunday. CJ took the kiddos to "Tarjay" yesterday and bought one just like it. Not only does Sebastian love it, it puts him to sleep within minutes :)> Note, all pictures below were taken within a 90 second period.

the weekend

And there's another weekend over. It was a fun one though :)

So on Saturday we lazed around in the morning. This is Kenzie in the morning. I love her sleepy eyes look.

kenzie3

We had some friends come over in the afternoon. My good friends Karen and Hadley came over with their kiddos. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect and the older kids (Phoebe, Ethan and Kenzie) had a blast playing on the playset and in the pool and just running around being kids - I love that! The second set (Kristina, Kalena and Seb) also seemed perfectly content to lie on a towel in the shade and watch their older siblings. Here's a picture - is there anything cuter???

Copy of P6180001

Yesterday was another good day. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! We spent a lot of time hanging around, playing outside and watching the PGA on TV. When the kids were napping CJ painted my toenails - what a cutie he is. He did a damn fine job too. Thanks Honey!

Later, we all headed over to our pals the Laceys for a fabulous barbeque. The Lacey's have a new playground in their backyard. It is too cool. It's a little fenced in area that is surrounded by trees so it's nice a shady. Inside they have a swingset (which Sebastian absolutely LOVED!!!!), a sandbox and the coolest wading pool I have ever seen. Kenzie was in heaven and didn't want to leave.

While there I kept thinking to myself - this is the life! We are here with friends (two of which are pregnant. Go Ladies!!! I can't wait to meet the new little ones), eating good food (including fresh fish that Darwin caught on the annual boys fishing trip - [btw Tim, I think you owe DW a dollar - I believe his fish was bigger by at least an eighth of an inch!!]) and just having a good time in general. The kiddos (Kenzie, Jessica, Julian and Gabby) are having a blast playing. We know they are safe and having fun. Life is grand!

Sam brought over a video that her fiance Charles made for her. Charles is in Iraq right now and will be coming back in October. Sam and Charles will be getting married on June 17th, 2006. Congratulations yous guys ;-) Anyhow, the movie was incredible. It had me in tears. I couldn't believe the pictures and video footage we saw of the bomb-blasts, guns, and armery. Throughout it all we saw pictures of Charles - sometimes he looked worn out and tired, sometimes sad and sometimes he had a smile on his face. But even in those pictures of him smiling he looked well beyond his years. It made me so sad... here we were having a wonderful time in the U.S.of A., enjoying the weekend with friends, and there is Charles, living in a life-and-death situation day in and day out. Here are some pictures of Sam and Charles.

Kenzie and Ethan

P6180018

P6180009

They have a love hate relationship. Ethen likes to pour water on kenzie when she doesn't want to be wet. He likes to push her down the slide when she doesn't want to be pushed. She likes to boss him around and tell him what to do. They make each other cry but then they hug and kiss it better. They are cute together.

I miss my family

I know... whine whine. But this is MY BLOG so if you don't like it - BACK OFF!!!!

I leave the house at 7:00 - usually before Kenzie wakes up. I come home after 6:00 and have 2 hours with CJ and the kids to play, eat dinner, get the kids bathed, dressed in PJ's, read to (in kenzie's case) and into bed.

If I wasn't so darn tired I'd stay up and hang out with CJ, but usually I can barely keep my eyes open and we are in bed asleep by 9:00. I live for the weekends but they go by too fast.

Lately i've been daydreaming about a different life. One where we didn't have to work. Where every day would be like the weekend. Ahhhhhhhh. That would be so nice.

...and now, back to reality.

Sebastian's first carrots

P6110005

Dear Seb

My sweet baby boy. I am so sorry. I am sorry we let you cry last night. It broke my heart. I wish I could explain to you that we just want you to sleep through the night. I wish I could make you understand that we are still there (just in the next room - or even, hovering outside your door) and that we will be there when you wake up in the morning. That we will have a nice, big warm bottle for you when the sun comes up. I want you to know that I would do anything for you. But your Dad and I are both exhausted. You really don't need to wake up twice a night for a little drink. You are a big healthy boy. You are 6 months old and should be able to sleep through the night.

I hope you know how much we love you. I hope that soon you will sleep through the night and not cry. I hope you will understand that we will always be there for you.

I love you sweetheart... very very very much.

help us settle an argument

Why do they put ice cubes in urinals?

My husband thinks it because cold pee smells better than warm pee.

I think it's to stop drunk men from taking a poop in the urinal.

who is right?

bedtime stories

Tonight, instead of reading Kenzie books before bed, CJ and I lay on her bed and told her make-believe stories.

I came up with a really funny one. It went like this....

"One day, daddy went fishing and caught a fish".

Kenzie and I laughed... and laughed... and laughed!!! It was funny.

Our lazy pumpkin

P6080002x

Sebastian is THE SWEETEST and most loveable little baby boy ever (and I am in no way biased).

Having said this, I will admit that he is also the laziest little baby boy as well. He feels no need to support himself in any way. And by that I don't mean financially (well actually, he hasn't done much in the way of financial contributions to the family either). But I was speaking more from a literal stand-point. He does not feel any need or desire to support himself physically - whether that be by sitting, crawling, "standing", etc. When I put him in a sitting position and let go he either folds in half like an yoga guru or flops over to his side as though sitting up is the most physically exhausting feat a human has ever endured. When I try to hold him up so he can put some weight on his legs, his legs crumble underneath him until his center of gravity is squarely (and safely) back on solid ground.

So, I had the brilliant idea today that we would put him in the bouncer, he would realize how fun it was to jump and he would build core body and leg strength in the process.

Well, after Kenzie's doll "baby shoo shoo" had her alloted time in the bouncer it was Sebastian's turn. I put him in and quickly captured this "first" as shown in the photo above. No sooner had I snapped this pic than he started to wail.... we removed him from the bouncer and replaced him to his position of comfort on his back on the floor.

I love you little man! Maybe we'll try again next week.

Sebastian's first "non-formula" food

Sebastian had his first non-formula food today. I can't exactly say "solid food" because it was ice cream. I know this is bad. Any guilt that I am harboring for this terrible act, pales in comparison to the pure joy I felt at seeing his beautiful smile after tasting that sweet delectible delicacy!

"I pell something"

My dear father has a best friend. He and his friend are inseparable. Unfortunately his bf stinks. His bf is a dog. Kenzie said it best when she srunched up her nose and said "I pell something".

Dad and Maddison left last night, but I think the smell has seeped into every inch of my being. I can NOT get rid of the smell of damp dog.

Well the weekend is over. and I am EXHAUSTED! It was an eventful weekend. It all went fairly well. The dinner party on Saturday was a hit - although it got pretty cold outside towards the end of the evening so we all came back inside and continued the party there.

Sebastian's Baptism was wonderful. He was such a good boy. He was so darn cute and good (sleeping in my arms during the service). I was so proud of him. His head smelled so yummy yesterday with the Christening oil on it.

Andrea's boyfriend took some pictures but they were all a bit dark because of the lighting in the church. This is a picture of afterwards once we were home and dressed in our casual clothes again.

So Dad, Andrea and Chris left this morning and mum is leaving tomorrow. I will miss everyone but I am also glad to get back into our normal routine again. Haven't been sleeping too much lately - with entertaining and Sebastian waking up twice a night. What I would do for 9 hours of solid sleep!

Okay well enough rambling. I have a ton of work to do today so I better get started!

God Bless You Sebastian!

people that bug me

Can I just say that insecure, defensive people really bug me. Especially those that are really bitchy because they "perceive" that they are being attacked or intentionally harmed in some way.

Lighten up people and think about someone else besides just you!!!!!

as you were.
