visit and trip to african lion safari
The weekend is almost over, and, once again, it has flown by. It had its ups and downs. It started off relatively well with me leaving work early on Friday afternoon to have a nice lunch with my mum. Unfortunately I was so exhausted from my work week that I couldn’t stop yawning. After lunch Omi and I picked the kids up from school. We got home and sat outside in the front and watched the kids play out on the street. Seb decided that he wanted to try 2-wheeling on his bike. Unfortunately he was just not in the right mind-frame. I was holding the back of his bike and he was doing great. I’m pretty sure that I could have let go and he would have been fine, but he was in a mood and everytime he started to lean just a bit he’d have a complete meltdown because he was frustrated. In any case, luckily Bev and Sofia showed up – Sof took both kids to the park and mum, Bev and I sat and drank wine and chatted and relaxed.
Saturday, Seb woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He was cranky and whiney from the minute he woke up. This was bad enough, but made even worse because yesterday was the day the Craig and Pat (CJ’s brother and mum) came to visit. We haven’t seen Craig for over a year. And this certainly did not give him a good impression. Craig and Pat arrivedd at about 11:30 and stayed until about 6:30 during which time Sebastian probably had no fewer than 20 meltdowns and whined for about 6 hours.
Here’s Seb having a meltdown because something didn’t go his way… maybe he missed the ball… or didn’t kick it as far as he wanted to.

Uncle Craig and Koda became good friends.

Nana and Kenzie on our walk. We took a little break by the school and Kenzie made a card for Nana.
Luckily we got the kids to sleep shortly after P & C left. Seb was out by 7:15 and Kenzie shortly thereafter. They both had a good sleep and Seb was a different boy this morning. CJ was gone by the time we woke up this morning. He and Dave went to do a 50km bicycle ride for charity. So the kids and I decided to go on an adventure…. We considered Canada’s Wonderland but decided against it cause it was raining. So I took the kids to the African Lion Safari. They were great and we had a lot of fun. We drove the safari and saw lots of cool animals….
Like lions,
And giraffes,
And rhinos,
And ostriches,
and ….
MONKEYS!!
We saw a cool parrot show….
Took a train ride…
Rode on an elephant..
And finally headed home….. We are now home and I have handed over parenting duties to CJ. I am going to have a nice glass of wine and catch up on facebook while CJ takes the kiddos to the park.
