Another week (or two) in review.

Okay… so let’s see. It’s been a couple weeks since I last blogged. Last weekend (i.e. 9 days ago) we had a long weekend. Omi was a star and picked up the kids from daycare on Friday and took them home with her. CJ and I met up for a wonderful sushi dinner with lots of sake… We then came home and spent about 5 hours watching Lost Season 3 episodes. What a great day. On Saturday, we hung out, watched some more lost and I went to the spa and got pampered – pedicure, manicure and brow waxing. After that I came home and CJ and I watched the last 2 episodes of Season 3… this just left us hungry for more. That is such an amazing show. I wish we had Season 4 on DVD too. Having to wait now for a new show every week is killing me.

In any case we picked up the kids from my mums and had dinner with her on Saturday night. On Sunday we were all invited over to the Woocks for dinner. It was lots of fun. Both kids had taken naps in the afternoon so we were able to stay until almost 10 without any over-tired induced melt-downs. It was a super fun evening. On Monday (Family Day), we had a bunch of friends over… the Woocks, Woods and Bev and Sophia came over. The kids had a blast playing together and I had a really nice time catching up with the ladies and doing some gossiping. CJ and Brian played guitars and watched some football so all in all everyone had fun.

So.. that was one weekend down… this past week at work was hell though. I just couldn’t get into it and I felt tired a lot. But we got through it. Kenzie was sick on Thursday. At first CJ and I thought she was faking to get out of going to school. But it turns out that she was really sick (we came to that conclusion after she threw up 3 times in about 20 minutes). Luckily Omi came to the rescue again and offered to watch both kids again during the day. This turned out to be awesome for everyone. #1) great for Kenzie cause Omi is an awesome nurse and loves to pamper sick people, #2) awesome for Sebby because he loves being with Omi nand he got to skip daycare, and #3) awesome for CJ and I cause mum kept the kids over night so CJ and I went out for a nice dinner again on Thursday night and then we came home and watched Lost again. This may sound boring to some, but I think CJ and I both LOVE evenings like this.

One Friday WE met Omi and the kids at Ikea after work. We had dinner at the cafeteria there. I also got to stock up on some European black licorice which I LOVE!!! YUM. Then CJ and Seb headed home and Omi, Kenzie and I (three generations of the ladies) headed downtown to watch a show. We went to see the Trinity Irish Dancers.

The show was amazing! I mean it rocked. We had great seats and all three of us LOVED it.

Here we are before hand at the hotel where we parked and had a drink before the show.

My princess. She looked so darn cute. I'm glad she wore this dress. She only likes wearing pink, but on Friday she humored me...

Aren't they super cute.

Let’s see… yesterday. CJ and I did a ton of cooking. We are having a lot of fun cooking all these healthy and tasty recipes. We now have a freezer full of lunches for CJ and I (spinach, bean,& turkey soup, and dahl and rice). Other than that we just hung out and .. well just hung out. CJ and I both did some running (CJ) / walking (me) on the treadmill.

Today I took the kiddos swimming. It’s the first time we’ve been in a long time. I think we all had a good time. But I was exhausted afterwards. CJ was a star and took over the kid-duties as soon as we got home. I went upstairs for a nap. Kenzie came and snuck into bed with me and took a nap with me. She is so cuddly :) I am going to miss it when she decides she’s too old to snuggle with me. After naps I got on the treadmill again. Now I am enjoying a well deserved “beverage” (yeah, a K-Pow… it’s the only reason I got on the treadmill in the first place). Soon we are going to start watching the Oscars – at least the red carpet stuff (which I enjoy more than the awards anyhow).

Tomorrow is back to work… and my boss is back. Yuck. Oh well. Here is something super cool… CJ and I have booked our vacation. We are going to the Dominican Republic in April. I am so darn excited. So knowing that this trip is booked is going to make the next 6 weeks either easier (because we have something to look forward to), or hell (cause I’ll be dying to go away on our trip).

Week of February 4 in review

This was a good week. Work was okay with it’s usual stresses etc. But luckily my boss was preoccupied with another new project manager. And when she did come to talk to me, I was on top of every issue she brought up. It felt good. And to top it off she left on Friday for a two week vacation! WOOT.

We had a big snow storm on Wednesday day/night and Thursday. It totally dumped. CJ was out at 5:00 am on Thursday morning shoveling snow. It took him an hour to do our driveway. There was over 30 cm that fell over night. Crazy. Of course the kids loved it. Except the snow in the backyard/play area at daycare was so high that the kids couldn’t even go out to play. The daycare teacher told me that the snow back there was up to her hips so the kids would be up to their heads. Lol We have so much snow around. If you drive up our street there is about 4 feet of snow piled up between all the houses and I’d guess about 8 feet of snow at the end of our street. I’ll run out and take a picture…

On Thursday both kids had gymnastics class. CJ and I both went. It was awesome for many reasons. First the kids love it. Second I love watching them, and third (but not least) CJ and I got an hour of uninterrupted time together.

Yesterday was Sue’s birthday. The Woocks and the Ingrams went to East Side Marios’s to celebrate. Everyone had a good time. Sue even got to spin the wheel :)

Afterwards we all came back to our house where Sue opened her present (a top from Lululemon). I feel kind bad cause I have a feeling that it’s too small for her, but she can exchange it – there was a gift receipt attached. But I think she was still pleased with it. It was strange though… CJ and I have been off alcohol” for so long now (well I still have my glass of wine, but no vodka). I asked CJ to make me a K-Pow. After drinking about a third I realized I had lost my taste for it. It’s a bit of a let down… kinda like quitting smoking and then realizing that if I had a cigarette now it wouldn’t taste as good as it used to. HA.

Today – Sunday - we have a fairly lazy day planned. Kids woke up early as usual and they spent about an hour watching morning cartoons from our bed. Then they forced us to get out of bed. CJ made us some fantastic breakfast burritos. Yum!

Now we are just hanging out in our pajamas. Soon I will call Andrea. She and I are supposed to go shopping today for a crib and bassinet and other baby stuff. I am so excited! I may take Kenzie along depending on how she’s feeling – she seems to be coming down with a cold.

CJ’s buddy Jamie is going to come over this afternoon to pick up some music stuff and visit. Apparently his wife is really into scrapbooking. We are hoping to get the two families together soon. It will be fun to have another scrapbooking buddy!

Oh, and one more thing… I am down 11 lbs now. I broke through that 10 lb milestone. I am very happy. Only 10 more lbs and I will no longer be overweight. Ha… sad isn’t it! We just bought a treadmill. It is being delivered on Thursday. My goal is to get on it every morning and walk/run for 30 minutes. This means that I will have to get up at 5:00am. It will be hard but so good if I can do it. Wish me luck!

Oh and one more cute picture….

on my mind...

1. I am so looking forward to the summer. Right now it’s cold and wet outside. Everything looks dirty and grey. There is still snow on the ground but it’s gross snow. Ahhh. I love the spring. It can’t come soon enough.
2. Seb was sick yesterday and so I spent most of the night in bed with him – with him coughing, wheezing and whining. I had a terrible sleep. The good news is that he seems much better today and my mum came over to take care of him so he didn’t have to go to daycare. The bad news is that I’m exhausted.
3. We have a new holiday here in Ontario. It’s called Family Day and it’s on Feb 18th this year. I think that rocks and I am excited for a nice long weekend.
4. My boss is going on vacation next week and I am really glad. No micro-managing for two weeks!
5. We went sledding on Saturday morning. It was really fun. CJ and I finally got ourselves some snow pants which make it much more enjoyable and less wet. The kids had fun and our neighbour Donna, and her daughter Olivia came out to play with us. This initiated two play dates for Kenzie – one on Saturday afternoon at our house and one on Sunday at Olivia’s.
6. We have plans to go out for dinner or do something fun with the Woocks on Saturday for Sue’s birthday. I am looking forward to that. Now what should I get her for her birthday?
7. Have I mentioned that I am tired of the winter? I just looked at pictures from last summer and I wish it was summertime again. I want to feel the sun on my face and wear short sleeved shirts and get a tan. I want to have barbeques outside and not worry about all the mess in the house.
8. I just signed the kids up for soccer. They start in May. I am excited to see them play. I am pretty sure they will enjoy it – and they are going to look so cute in their little uniforms and cleats and shin pads 
9. I just signed up for Green Earth Organics. They deliver a bag of “in season” organic fruits and vegetables to your door every week. I am looking forward to that. CJ and I have really embraced this “healthier” lifestyle. We have been cooking a lot and eating a lot of produce and whole grains. We have also cut back on our booze-consumption. I still have to have at least a glass of wine every day, but that’s better than a couple mixed drinks. We are both down in weight too (between 5 and 10 lbs so far). It will be neat to get this organic produce because we’ll have to find recipes for, and cook, vegetables that we aren’t accustomed to eating. For example, this week we need to do something with arugula and with turnip.
10. I have a headache and want to go home. I sometimes really wish the flexibility I had at my old job. Even my previous position with Delcan was way more flexible that here.

Here are some pics from this weekend.
