Sigh of Relief

I finally remembered to bring pictures into work today. I finally have some pics of the kids and family on my desk. I feel much better now.

Onto a completely different topic. Yesterday we had a fantastic evening. When I got home Kenzie and Sebby came running to give me hugs (as always.. I love that). Kenzie was really excited and took my hand to bring me to her sticker chart to show me that she had earned all her stickers for two days straight… thereby earning two stars which equals one pair of princes shoes. (yes I caved and went from 3 days good behaviour to two).

In any case, the family packed up and went to Zellers and Kenzie got her new shoes. She wore them out of the store and I swear she had a wonderful bounce in her step.

CJ and I decided to take the kids to our new favourite wing place – Wild Wing . The only thing they have on the menu is wings, fries and onion rings (and a kids menu). They have 52…. Yes that’s FIFTY-TWO different flavours of wings ranging from mild to dangerous (the ones CJ likes to order). They also have beer, wine and cocktails. Check out the menu…..

wildwings

The kids behaved like angels. They loved their food and they stayed relatively clean. CJ and I enjoyed our wings – (I ordered the Home on the Ranch and they were spectacular, CJ had the HOT LIPS ha ha ha).

So after dinner we decided to try to win a stuffed animal from one of those game thingies where you move “the claw” around and then press a button, the claw drops and when it comes up it may or may not grasp onto a stuffed animal. Most of the time the stuffed animal is too heavy and you walk away with nothing. Well this game is awesome. If you done’t get one, you get to keep playing until you do…. We became addicted and walked out of the restaurant with 6 little stuffed toys.

The kids had a blast, CJ and I had fun. It was a fun night.

a good weekend…. mostly.

The weekend started off very fun. I finish work at noon every Friday. So Friday afternoon CJ and I dropped the kids off at my mum’s house and headed out to do some errands (banking, OHIP etc). Mum called while we were out and told us to take our time and go out for dinner or a drink and to enjoy ourselves. So we did. We went to our favorite new bar – Philthy McNasties… ha ha. They have Jenny Craig fries there which are to die for. We actually had a chance to chat and talk about something other than the kids. It was great.

On Saturday morning I took the kids to Toronto Island. We met Omi at the ferry and had a fantastic time there. The ferry ride is only about 15 minutes but is very fun - adds adventure to the outting.!

weekendfun 002

I was really amazed at how brave the kids were. Especially Mackenzie. I thought she’d be nervous going on the rides, but she had a blast. She wanted to go on everything, including the roller coaster and log boom ride (which we successfully avoided cause neither Omi, nor I wanted to get drenched). The kids convinced me to take them on the ferris wheel though which was absolutely terrifying for me, but they enjoyed it. HA! We got back to the car after several hours of fun. The kids were fast asleep before we even pulled out of the parking lot. And the cool thing is CJ and I were able to transport them from the car to their beds and they continued to sleep for a few hours in the afternoon. I took a nap too. Here are some pictures from the day.

While the kids and I were out having adventures, CJ stayed home to do home improvement projects. I am really impressed with all the stuff he is doing. He did some electrical work in the kitchen and installed lighting under the kitchen cabinets. Then he got some blinds, had them sized and hung them in several windows of the house. He also installed a bracket to hold our new small flat screen TV that we have in the kitchen - I love it all.

Yesterday was both good and bad. For the first time ever, Mackenzie had a major meltdown in public. It was because she wanted a pair of new shoes which I told her she could have, but then she started misbehaving and so I told her she needed to behave or she wouldn’t get her shoes. The bad behaviour continued so she didn’t get eth shoes. It broke my heart to see her so upset. But I think we did the right thing. When we got home and she calmed down, we made a deal that she could “earn” the shoes with good behaviour for the next few days. She has been an angel ever since. I know she will earn those shoes and I’m sure they will mean that much more to her because she will have worked for them.

Yesterday afternoon/evening my friend Ian (from IBI) came over for a visit. We all had a blast. CJ and Ian had fun talking about golfing and are currently planning a golf outing in the near future. Ian was great with the kids… probably because he is like one himself. It was a great visit. We all drank way too much wine… but hey, you gotta do that once in a while right?

The kids adored him.

So, it’s Monday now and I’m back at work. I hope this week goes by quickly. We leave for the Oregon coast on Saturday. We are spending a week there with our friends the Lacey’s, and Sam and jess are coming down for a couple days too. It will be so wonderful to see them again.

From the Manitoba Herald, Canada

From the Manitoba Herald, Canada

"The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada
has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols
to stop the illegal immigration. The actions of President Bush are
prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they'll soon
be required to hunt, pray, and agree with Bill O'Reilly."

Canadian border farmers say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology
professors, animal-rights activists, and Unitarians crossing their
fields at night. "I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there
was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer, Red
Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold,
exhausted and hungry. "He asked me if I could spare a latte and some
free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left. Didn't
even get a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?"

In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher
fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers
that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields. "Not real effective," he
said. "The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much
they wouldn't give milk."

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals
near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive
them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves."A lot of
these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario Border
Patrolman said. "I found one carload without a drop of drinking water.
"They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though."

When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often
wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors
have been circulating about the Bush Administration establishing
re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic
beer and watch NASCAR races.

In recent days, liberals have turned to somewhat ingenious ways of
crossing the border. Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus
trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a
half-dozen young vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration
authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed
senior-citizen passengers on Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney hits to
prove they were alive in the '50s."If they can't identify the accordion
player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we get suspicious about their age," an
official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are
creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan
Sarandon movies. "I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian
economy just can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. "How many
art-history majors does one country need?"

In an effort to ease tensions between the United States and Canada, Vice
President Dick Cheney met with the Canadian ambassador and pledged that
the administration would take steps to reassure liberals", a source
close to Cheney said. "We're going to have some Peter, Paul & Mary
concerts, and we might put some endangered species on postage stamps.".
The President is determined to reach out," said Cheney.

It's bad quality because I had to take it while undercover - it was a quick fly in-fly out operation. Is this not the most bizarre thing you've ever seen?

you know what's really annoying

when the people you buy your new house from leave it looking like a pig stye. For example, crumbs and onion skins in cupboards, tons of dust/dirt on the floors, and a fridge that hasn't been cleaned in a long time. grrrrrrr.

3 hours and 53 minutes...

that's when I'm leaving the office and driving to our new house. That's if CJ has gotten the keys by then. He is currently waiting for a call from our laywer telling him that she has received the keys and they are ready to be picked up.

Time is craaaaaawling along right now.

weekend update

We had a good weekend. Mum went away to the cottage and as horrible it is to say, it was very nice that she was gone. It’s been a bit stressful with all of us in the same house so CJ and I were able to relax and not worry about the place being messy or the kids eating a bit of junk food. We had a really nice weekend. On Saturday one of my “board friends” Michelle, came over with her husband and her kids. We had a great time. It was so nice for CJ and I to have some socialization with people our own age. Also Michelle and Jamie recently (a year ago) moved back to Canada from the States - so they were totally familiar with all the hassles that we have gone through. We had a nice morning and a barbeque. At 1:00 I had to run to the bank to sign mortgage papers so that cut our visit short… but I am looking forward to when we get together again.

Here are some pics.

Then, on Sunday we went shopping! CJ and I bought a beautiful new bedroom set. I am so excited. We finally get our king sized bed that I have wanted for so long. Here’s a link. I also got some bedding and stuff for the kids’ new rooms from Pottery barn Kids… their stuff is just sooooo adorable. I am so excited to decorate the rooms! We get the keys to our new house tomorrow. Mum will be watching the kids while CJ moves our stuff. In the evenings CJ and I will unpack and get the house ready and the kids will come over on the weekend. I REALLY want to have Mackenzie’s room painted pink before she arrives… she would absolutely FLIP!

hi

I need a friend. I miss my friends in Seattle/Kirkland. I know we stay in touch via email and phone but I need some "real" socialization. I miss the barbeques that CJ and I would have or ones that we'd go to. We haven't been out together with friends since July 1st (our goodbye party at teh Wheelers). Sure, CJ and I have been able to go out together a few times and we've gone out with Andrea and Chris. But that's different. If anyone living in the Toronto area would like to be my friend, please give me a call and let's get together.
