Halloween Party 2007

On Thursday afternoon CJ and I decided to have a few friends over for an impromptu Halloween party. To be honest I didn’t think anyone would be able to come because it was such late notice and everyone is so busy with kids and sports etc. But, very surprisingly, EVERYONE was able to come. The party started yesterday at 3:00. We were planning on having the kids do some cookie decorating and then some pumpkin carving and then everyone would go home and we’d watch the OSU/PSU football gall. But alas, the best laid plans…. So at 7:00 everyone was still here and the party was in full swing. No one seemed ready to go. So we ordered in some pizza and the party continued…

I had a really good time. I am happiest with a house full of people and laughter. I think everyone had fun. You should see Kenzie’s room – it is a friggin disaster area today. LOL. CJ, Dave and Graham played some X-Box Hockey. CJ and Brian spent hours in teh basement playing guitar. CJ was still able to watch the football game. He would have seen OSU win (sorry Dawn), but he passed out before the end of the game. Ha ha ha.

I think the last guests left around 10:30 or 11:00. That, in itself is not surprising, or late, but when you think that people arrived at 3:00 – that’s an 8 hour party! Woot! Here are some pics.

short post

We are having typical fall weather right now - lots of rain and cooler nights. But last weekend it was gorgeous. I mean REALLY NICE! It felt like a Seattle summer day. Here is a picture of Kenzie at the park. This is the first time she did this "apparatus" by herself. She was very proud of herself.

Poor baby

Seb fell off the couch and hit his head on the table. Within seconds he had a giant goose-egg on his forehead. Luckily it looked much worse than it was. By the next morning he was almost all better - you could only see a small scratch if you looked closely.

too fast

Time goes by way too fast. I CAN NOT believe that it's the middle of October already. Before we know it it'll be Halloween and then December birthdays and then Christmas... ack!

So in the last couple weeks we had Canadian Thanksgiving. We hosted it at the Ingram household. My dad was here and Omi, Andrea and Chris and Isabella and Nina also joined us. Everyone brought over food and we had a grand ol' time. The kids had a lit of fun making place-cards for everyone. Here are some pics.

The days are work are flying by. I am so busy these days that I don't have time to get bored. LOL. I'm actually really enjoying the job. I don't like the commute much at all though. This week i got pulled over by a cop for turning RIGHT onto a street where there was (apparently, cause i swear I didn't see it)a sign that said "no turning right after 4:00 pm". It was like 4:02. Ugh... then to add insult to injury I got a second ticket for not having my insurance on me. I showed the cop all the insurance cards for the last 6 years, but of course the newest one was sitting on our kitchen counter cause it had just been renewed in the last month and I hadn't put it in the car yet.

I am getting more involved in the school council. And unfortunately I seem to have stepped right into the middle of a huge political minefield. Ah well... I'll try to tread carefully.

Last night my mum took the kids for a sleep over. This afforded CJ and I the opportunity to go out together. First we went out to a new bar for some appetizers and drinks. Then, because we weren't ready to head home yet we hot our local wing place for another drink and a few games of yatzee-like-videos-games. Then we came home and watched the "40 Year Old Virgin" which is a hilarious movie that both CJ and I really liked. The best part was this morning when we both got to sleep in. We didn't get out of bed until after 10:00. Then CJ made us some awesome omelets for breakfast. YUM.

This afternoon we are going skating. Here's a picture of teh kids the other day, trying on their skates.

There's a quick update.

By the way, my fabulous husband, CJ has been blogging every day for the last couple weeks. He's on a roll to blog every day for a blog. You should check it out.

and we are into fall now

Ok, so a few notes about life in the Ingram household since I last blogged. In general things are very good. The weather is really nice these days. Beautiful fall weather. Things seem to get a lot busier in the fall – the extracurricular activities start, traffic is worse, work gets busier and the energy level just seems to go up everywhere. Kenzie is doing well, although she told me today that she liked last year’s teacher better than her new one. I think part of that is just that her new teacher is, well “new”, and Kenzie takes after her mum and doesn’t like change much. Seb is a bit like that too and had a hard time adjusting to Kenzie not being in his class at daycare anymore… poor little guy missed his big sister. He’s also resisting any change in his current bathroom routine – I fear that he’ll be the only kid in diapers in kindergarten next year!). Anyhow, they both seem to be doing well now and are happy. Kenzie has made lots of new friends already, and is happy to be with her old school friends again. They are both enjoying the weather and we are spending a lot of time at the park.

I am adjusting to my new job at the TTC. I’m REALLY enjoying the work and starting to feel like I’m getting my head around the project, the organization and the work. The commute though SUCKS! I hate the extra time I have to spend in the car and in traffic. But I suppose I’ll get used to it. I am already leaving the house at 6:30 to avoid traffic, I can’t get up any earlier!

What else, … ah… CJ and I got the chance to go out and listen to some music on Sunday. We went with Sue and Brian and their girls came over and took care of our kiddos. Kenzie and Seb had a great time and CJ and I had a great time too. We went to a pub in Stouffville and sat outside on the patio where they had an open mike for finger style guitar players. There were a couple guys there who were spectacular. We enjoyed some good music, conversation and some yummy pub grub. It was a nice afternoon.

What else… oh yeah, I’m now on parent council at Kenzie’s school. I’m a bit afraid. It seems to be quite political and I am not sure what I’ve gotten myself into, but we’ll see. At least I feel like I am more in touch with Kenzie’s school “happenings” and will know what’s going on. I am head of the environmental committee and also in training to be treasurer next year. This year my focus will be on implementing some environmental improvements – my top priority is to get some trees and native species plant life planted around the school. I am appalled by the sea of concrete that is there now.

This coming weekend is thanksgiving here in Canada. Dad is coming for a visit and we will be hosting the family for a Turkey dinner on Sunday. I am looking forward to that a lot! I love when we all get together and everyone heps cook and we drink wine and just enjoy spending time with each other.

I am also having lunch with Andrea and mum today. Andrea works about 2 minutes from my office. It's so nice to spend more time with them now that we are back in Canada.
