big abbreviated update
okay lots has happened since I last posted. First of all we had Christmas. It was really nice. On Saturday night I took Kenzie to see the nutcracker. We met with Andrea, Mum and Glenda. Ewa and her kiddos were there too but we didn’t sit together;. But Ewa and her crew came over to our place afterwards and stayed the night. This was us all having breakfast together on the morning of Christmas Eve. The kids were really excited about Santa’s imminent arrival.
Andrea and Chris and Omi came over to celebrate with us in the afternoon. Isaac came for a while too and he and K has so much fun playing together. It was the first time we have spent Christmas all together in 5 years. It was really nice.
I was amazed at how many presents we had.
I was also really surprised that the kiddos were good and patient and played with their toys while the rest of us finished our fondue dinner before we opened any gifts. That was Sunday night. On Monday we opened the remaining gifts and Isabella and Nina came over. They brought with them a ton of gifts for the kids and the coolest thing is that everything was handmade – books, hats, scarves, pillows, painting…. It made me tear up. I love those two.

This week we’ve been hanging out. I’ve really enjoyed having the week off of work. This is the first time in years that I have had a full week off at Christmas (my office is officially closed) and I love it. Yesterday was K’s birthday. She enjoyed her gifts from us and from Omi but her official party is tomorrow. She and I also went to see Happy Feet together and she really liked it (despite the scary seal part).
Today the kids and I went to the Ontario science centre. That place is so cool and so much fun. Next time we go I have to get a membership. It’s only 15 minutes away.
Kenzie took this picture.
Tomorrow we are having a big party for both kiddos…. Well Kenzie mainly, but we cancelled Seb’s party cause he was sick so we’ll celebrate his birthday too. I am excited but also overwhelmed with all the work we still have to do to get ready by 3:00 tomorrow. Ah well, it’ll be fun I’m sure. That’s the abbreviated update. More to come soon. Love you. - K

Omi
I need to give a big shout out to Omi. I know I bitch about her a lot (and to be honest, she does exhibit some really freaky “odd” behaviour sometimes) but she has been a Godsend the last few days. Last week when the kids were both sick she took care of them on Monday and Tuesday – even keeping them overnight at her house on Monday night so that CJ and I could get some rest. After our failed attempt at bringing Seb to daycare on Wednesday (they called me at 10:00 in the morning saying that he had a fever so CJ had to pick him up and stay home with him), Omi came to the rescue again. She came to our house on Thursday morning in time for CJ and I to both get to work on time). She stayed at our house with Sebby and pampered him all day - making him homemade soup and giving him lots of love. She even picked up Kenzie after school and brought her home to play rather than having her going to after-school daycare. Omi then stayed at our house overnight so that she could take care of Seb again on Friday. Then she watched after Kenzie while I took Seb back to the doctor again on Friday afternoon (by this time, he had been diagnosed with a sinus infection and/or strep throat and was still running a fever every time the antibiotics wore off).
Okay… so fast forward through the weekend. Seb is still super cranky and unhappy, his mouth has broken out into swollen, inflamed bleeding gums and small blisters, he’s on a second type of antibiotics and he still is a mess. So on Monday morning Omi comes back to our house to take care of him again. She takes him to urgent care only to hear “Hmmm, I’m really not sure what’s wrong with him”, from the doctor. She picks up Kenzie from daycare so that both kids can have a good nap at home. She then takes both kids back to the doctor so Kenzie can have her annual check-up and so she can get a second opinion on what is wrong with Seb – this time the doctor seemed to know what she was doing and told mum he had viral gingivitis and gave her some intructions on how we can treat it. After all this Omi brings the kiddos back home and makes dinner for the whole family – mashed potatoes (NOT from the box) and gravy for Seb since his mouth is sore, and something completely different for the rest of us.
Since CJ and I were a mess yesterday after not sleeping for over a week (Seb was up almost every hour of the night every night since he got sick), Omi insists on taking him home with her so that the rest of us can get some sleep.
Last night for the first night in ages, CJ and I had a solid 9 hours of sleep. I slept like a rock and feel like a different person today. I talked to Omi this morning and she said that Seb had a great sleep at her house (I swear she has magical powers) and that he seems happy and energetic this morning.
All I can say is THANK GOD for Omi. I don’t know what we would have done without her over the last week. She truly went above and beyond and I am so grateful for her.
Thank you Mum, I love you very much. HUGS

so tired
It's been a long week. Both kiddos have been dealing with teh typical winter time colds. Only Seb's worsened into strep and/or sinus infection and/or something else. He's been miserable, and hasn't been sleeping well, which means that CJ and I haven't been sleeping well either.
We had a birthday party planned for him yesterday but had to cancel it. I had ordered a cake though so we decided to get it and at least let the boy eat cake....
He was pretty happy to get it - especially cause it came with a moving Thomas train on top. Unfortunately he didn't eat much since his mouth and throat hurt. I'm hoping he's on the mend now and will be much better by Christmas.

Happy Birthday Sebastian
Let’s see. I am slacking with this blogging thing. Since I last updated we’ve been working, we curled, went out for dinner, slept in, went to CJ’s Christmas party, and finished Christmas shopping!
Today is my baby’s second birthday. And he is home sick. Poor guy. Got a call from daycare this morning that he was running a fever. He didn’t even get to enjoy the cupcakes we brought to daycare for him. I am glad that CJ was able to get him though. I am sure he is enjoying his day at home with Dad. At least he was well enough last night to sample a cupcake.
Here he is decorating his own cupcake.
We gave him one of his birthday gifts this morning – it’s a Thomas the train table and chairs. He was very excited and really seems to like it.
Happy Birthday Little Man. I love you with all my heart. I hope you feel better soon (especially for your party on Saturday!). HUGS. Love mum.

another weekend flies by
Friday night we had curling. Both CJ and I had some good ‘throws’ (or whatever it’s called) so we were both happy. We also won our game which always make things more fun. Sebastian’s daycare teacher, Kelly, babysat both kids. They LOVED her and were so excited to see her when she arrived. So that all worked out perfectly. On Saturday CJ played in a curling bon spiel – it’s basically like a tournament but everyone drinks during it. The kids and I went to visit the club and cheer him on for a while. Here are some pics.

Then I dropped the kids off at my moms house and did a bit more Christmas shopping. I still have lots to do but I am getting there. I also bought a little Thomas the train wooden table and chairs for Sebby’s birthday. I think he’ll be beside himself with excitement when he sees it. Saturday night we went to my company’s Christmas party. It was a bit stuffy but still enjoyable. The DJ was friggin hilarious. Imagine the worst possible stereotypical soft-rock DJ, add in a few schwarmy car sales-man characteristics and you’ll have our DJ. To make matters worse, he was also the MC of the event. CJ and I giggled about him the whole night long. I don’t think he played any music from the last 20 years. His song selections were things like “Lady in Red” (a big hit with my company “high-ups”).
Okay so here’s the best part…. Since the kiddos stayed over night at my mum’s house, we got to sleep in. It was wonderful. Shortly before noon we headed over to my mum’s place. CJ and I stayed there to watch after Sebastian while my mum took Kenzie to the ballet – The Nutcracker. Get this… while I took another nap (hey, I gotta sleep while I can), CJ chose to watch curling instead of football. He did clarify by saying that if the Seahawks had been playing he would have watched football…. Uh huh. Kenzie was so darn excited and she looked adorable. Mum said that she had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it.
After they got home, the Ingram family drove home, stopping at a small family diner for some dinner. So it was an enjoyable weekend all round. Next weekend we have curling and CJ’s Christmas party. It should be fun.
Btw, here’s a picture of the kids in their pretend car. Kenzie is using a Frisbee at the steering wheel.
